The War at Home
The war on drugs has been turning teenagers in casualities for twenty years. The Suburban Street Wars trilogy follows several teenagers who become caught up in a narcotics driven turf war in suburban Massachusetts. The main character is sixteen year old James Ballum, a two time suicide survivor, who has been pushed over the edge by bullies in and out of school.
In the first book Before they were Hawks he assembles his friends to become a militant gang known as the Hawks Foundation and solidifies them behind the idea of fighting against drug dealers.
In the second book Sevlow the Hawks find a dead body and attempt to hunt down the murderer who lives in their small town.
In Almost Columbine the three main gangs converge in an all out war complete with street fights, drive-by shootings and a drive-in movie battlefield that ends horrifically for all involved.
